DALKALA (f Giant's Causeway - Daltaya by Anabaa)
Bred by His Highness The Aga Khan Studs Sc in USA
TUESDAY'S impressive Prix Cleopatre heroine Dalkala boasts a pedigree out of the top drawer as the first foal out of Daltaya, who took the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte and ran fourth in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches for the same connections in 2006.
Making it 3 out of 3 wins todate. She won the Saint-Cloud Prix Cleopatre, Gr.3 by a margin of 4 lengths.
It is a family steeped in Aga Khan history since Daltaya is out of a Doyoun half-sister to the brilliant pair Daylami and Dalakhani; the former won seven Group 1 races including the Breeders' Cup Turf and King George while Dalakhani's outstanding three-year-old season encompassed wins in the Prix du Jockey Club and Arc.
Daltaya has a two-year-old colt by Dynaformer and a yearling filly by Mr Greeley.
Dalkala becomes the 62nd Pattern winner by Ashford Stud sire Giant's Causeway, whose 21 Group/Grade 1 winners include Shamardal, Footstepsinthesand and Ghanaati. The son of Storm Cat stands for $85,000.
